Brazil Starmaya - Santuario Sul (Natural)

Our latest limited release single origin comes from Fazenda Santuario Sul located in the Minas Gerais region of Brazil. Santuario Sul was established by Luiz Paulo Dias Pereira Filho with an aim to be ahead of market trends and offer a range of coffees that stands out amongst his Brazilian counterparts. This Starmaya natural lot is a perfect example of Luiz Paulo's ethos!

Starmaya is a truly unique variety. It is a first-generation (F1) variety that was created by crossing Marsellesa and CIR-SM01 (an Ethiopian landrace variety). Developed for its high yield and strong resistance to coffee leaf rust, Starmaya is a very recent success with only a handful of producers worldwide currently growing it. 

In the cup this lot is bold and juicy with deep flavours of stone fruits and milk chocolate. It has a crisp but balanced red apple acidity making it perfect for delicious espresso and milk based beverages.

We were only able to get our hands on a tiny amount of this Brazilian gem so make sure you pick up a bag before it's all gone!
